Understanding the Power of MelaKarnak
Various Speakers

As an effective leader, you have the ability to shape the future; and Mela can play a powerful role in that process. Upon completing the Mela Masterclass, you will receive your graduation certificate and be inducted into the Mela network.  With an understanding of the Mela concept, you will realize the potential power of the network for helping you shape your future, both personally and professionally, as well as the future of those around you – your family, organization, community, country and even the world. You will also learn about your responsibilities as a member of Mela and opportunities to serve the network.  Finally, know that the power of Mela is multiplied by its affiliation with similar, parallel networks, including SIBF, a US-based network of experienced international business leaders founded in 1981; CELA, a network of leaders from business, government, and civil society in Central Asia and the Caucasus, formed in partnership with SIBF in 2002; and SEALA, a similar network spanning South and Southeast Asia formed by SIBF in 2014. Collectively, these four sister networks include over 1600 members across some 46 countries.

Preparing for Crowd Sourcing the Future - Karnak
Bill Starnes

According to William Gibson, the future is already here, it’s just unevenly distributed. Crowd sourcing is a way of tapping into and leveraging the collective knowledge, experience, and insights of a diverse group of people to capture that future. In this exercise, Mela 12 Masterclass participants and Mela Reunion alumni will form teams to work together on imagining a specific aspect of the future. Options might include the future of leadership, work, technology, education, medicine, organizational structures, etc. You will need to work together overnight to research and brainstorm ideas, capture your collective insights, prioritize them into your top 3 to 5 themes, then prepare a short five-minute presentation to share on your aspect of the future in tomorrow’s opening session. It’s meant to be creative, fun, and playful! Enjoy then amaze us!

7:00 pm

Dinner and Meeting with your Crowd Sourcing Group
You will attend a reception where you will interact with the Mela Alumni members. This will provide an opportunity to continue discussing the key issues facing the region as well as to further network with the Mela alumni.
